The second daughter was born at the Golden Cross, Balhannah.

The Balhannah Inn was first established in 1840. At the time of the birth of Alice in 1867 the inn was known as the Golden Cross Inn, but later became the Golden Cross Hotel and then much later, the Balhannah Hotel.

Alice married Charles William Buckley on 6 May 1886 at the residence of his father Robert Buckley. Witnesses to the marriage were A. G. Ockenden and Alice's older sister Clara Elisabeth Weidenhofer.

They had one child, Archie Leslie on 5 May 1887 but Alice died a few weeks later on 25 May 1887. The cause of death was purpural fever, an infection at childbirth which was common in those days.

Archie was then cared for by Alice's parents until Charles remarried.
